Hi there!

Happy November. Yet another month has passed. I can’t believe how close we are to the end of the year.

October wasn’t a great reading month. I read a lot of 3-star books and had only one 5-star read (A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas, which was a re-read, so it doesn’t really count). Here’s to a much better November!

My reading highlight:

Fruit of the Drunken Tree by Ingrid Rojas Contreras
3 stars

It took me a long time to get through this book. I would have appreciated the story a lot more if I had a deeper understanding of the Columbia War.

Nevertheless, it was fascinating (yet heartbreaking) to learn more about the war from the perspective of two young girls. A lot of themes were explored without the book having an expansive plot – sexism, classism, mental health and sexual violence.
